Mountain Biking

Fort Bayard Trails

Looking for mellower, faster trails? Look no further than the trails in the grasslands and hills of this trail system. The further north you get, the rougher it gets. Stay south of the Big Tree to keep it chill, climb up to the Divide via the old wagon roads to the north if you want it rugged.

Cross Country/Dragonfly Loop - (7.3 miles, beginner/intermediate)

Tommyknocker (greatest Ft Bayard hits) - 14 miles - intermediate

Tommyknocker (newer route goes thru old Fort) - 18 miles - intermediate

Pinos Altos Range High Country

No one ever said this riding is easy, and we won’t either. Plenty of climbing and plenty of technicality can be found up on these ponderosa ridges and wet canyons. The CDT can hold snow for a while up high, call the shop for condition updates. Looking for cooler temps in the summer? Look no further.

Signal Peak Challenge “Beginner” route - 5.4 miles, intermediate

Signal Peak Challenge, full course: 21.5 mi, advanced

Black/Cherry/Signal - 20 miles, advanced, fully classic (little bit of asphalt)

Tadpoles & Trout - 19mi, intermediate, mix of two track and singletrack.

Little Walnut Trails

Really mixed riding in the oak/pinon/juniper forest just north of town. There are easy loops here, but don’t be afraid to find the Dragon Trail for a hyper-technical and steep descent, or get over to the beauty of Bear Mountain via the CDT.

Melllloooowwww 5k - 3.3 miles, super-duper easy

Lil’ Walnut figure 8 - 8 miles, beginner-friendly

Gila Devotion - 14 miles - advanced
