Paved
Low traffic, wild views, and plenty of climbing (if you want it).
Short(ish) rides
Little Burro Pass (Stir ‘n Simmer) > 19 mi > +1,328 ft
Mellow climbs and fun descents along a moderately busy road with a nice and wide shoulder
Vanadium Hangover Cure > 29 mi > +2,099 ft
Rolling route with a long moderate descent into Bayard
Shake n Bake (to Meadow Creek) 32 mi > +3,018 ft
Long climb to Pinos Altos followed by amazing descents into Cherry Creek and back into town. Shortcut the route by starting in front of the Buckhorn Saloon in P.A.
Longer Rides
The Inner Loop > 77 mi > +6200 ft
An absolute NM road-bike classic. Extremely diverse from rolling hills, to the flat Mimbres Valley, to the steep climbs and descents in the Pinos Altos Range back into town. Highly recommended for those prepared.
Emory Pass > 87 mi > +7,820 ft
Amazing scenery along Gallinas Canyon as you climb up to the Emory Pass overlook. The route can be shortened by starting down in the Mimbres Valley instead of in town.
Cliffs Dwelled > 90 mi > +10,171 ft
Without a doubt, one of the toughest paved rides in the state. Unrelenting climbs followed by incredible descents in wild country is the name of the game. Resupply in Gila Hot Springs before flipping it back to Silver.
