Gravel Bike Routes
Wild, remote, and worth the planning
Wider is better around here. Our gravel varies a lot — fast and smooth along the ridgetops, a touch sandy through arroyo crossings, and the occasional washboard nightmare (we swear it doesn't last long!). Check out the flat-ish gravel just south of town beyond Ridge Road, feel out the steep, punchy climbs around Wind Canyon, or head out-and-back on the roads that dead-end at Wilderness boundaries north of town. Generally good surface, always quiet.

Really fun climbing and descending, if you're into it

Kinda tough at the top, really fun back down

Half grav, half paved. All good.

Watch out for that climb back out from the mesa. Jeez!

Desert Whitewater
This may be the flattest gravel route in the county (ok, it is). Beautiful grasslands, and maybe you'll get lucky and spot some pronghorn. Just park at the jct of Whitewater Rd/Hwy 90 if you want to out and back the flat stuff, or just do the main loop.
