Why We Like It

Southwestern gravel doesn't do you any favors — one minute it's smooth hardpack, the next it's fist-sized rock and washboard that'll rattle a lesser bike apart. The GT8 shifts through Shimano's GRX Di2 electronic drivetrain with zero hesitation, no matter how numb or dusty your hands get by mile forty. When the road drops fast toward a wash or a cattle guard jumps out of nowhere, the hydraulic disc brakes haul you down hard and predictable — no fade, no drama. Add a built-in power meter for honest training numbers and an Afterburner Black finish that looks like it was born on a gravel road, and you've got a bike that backs up its swagger.

• • •

  • Shimano GRX Di2 electronic shifting — lightning-fast, precise shifts even when your fingers are numb from a cold morning climb out of town.
  • Shimano GRX hydraulic disc brakes — best-in-class stopping power for the fast, loose descents this country throws at you.
  • Integrated Branta power meter — dial in your training zones before your next big CDT or GDMBR push.
  • 700x45C Continental Terra Trail tires, 55mm frame clearance — the sweet spot for southwestern gravel roads: quick on hardpack, forgiving on washboard, no upgrade needed.
  • Afterburner Black paint with copper accents — a finish that turns heads at the trailhead and hides the dust just as well.

Things to Know

What tire size does the GT8 come with, and is it enough for local gravel roads?

The GT8 ships with 700x45C Continental Terra Trail tires — a great starting point for southwestern gravel. Most stock gravel bikes ship with 40mm tires, which come up short once you hit the occasional sand or washboard sections common on our local roads. The 45C gives you a real margin there. The frame will also clear up to 700x55C if you ever want to size up further, though that's a nice-to-have rather than a necessity.

Are the GT8's tires tubeless?

Yes — the Continental Terra Trail tires are tubeless-ready. Running them tubeless is worth it out here: lower pressure for more grip and comfort on washboard and loose gravel, with a lot less risk of pinch flats or sudden punctures from goatheads and sharp rock.
